4th March 2017
Our school choir performed at the Music for Youth Festival at Cheltenham Town Hall on Saturday 4th March. We are so proud of them. They were the only Primary school on that day.
The festival is part of the world’s largest youth music festival running February – April 2017. Groups will be selected from the festival and invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall later in November at the Music for Youth Proms. Last year's Music for Youth Proms saw 3000 of the UK's brightest young musicians take to the stage at the iconic Royal Albert Hall for three nights of extraordinary talent, magnificent music and inspiring performance.
The Regional Festival Series welcomes 40,000 young musicians to take part in the world’s largest youth music festival in 50 locations nationwide. This is a chance for them to perform their music and gain valuable feedback from their professional music mentors.
Our Music Mentor for the evening was Lisa Tregale (Head of Education and participation of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra)
The feedback given to our school choir was as follows;
“ You said in your written introduction that the only prerequisite for your choir is that you enjoy singing – Well that is totally obvious to all in the hall today!! What energy and commitment to performance. You are such a respectful choir beautifully supporting all the solos, duets and small ensemble moments.
Lovely to see drama & movements into the performance adding value to the lyrics. What an amazing first performance at the Music for Youth Festival. Also love the conducting style – may try that at the BSO! (Our conductor was a sheep hand puppet) Well Done!”
The event was a huge achievement for such a young choir, performing for the first time on such a large scale. Our choir is made up of children ages 7yrs – 10yrs.
